
NTDA Collaborates with Consultants on Development Scheme.
Lagos State Government engaged consultants for the development of Schemes in the Epe and Ibeju-Lekki areas of the State.
The General Manager New Towns Development Authority (NTDA), Tpl. Olakunle Aboyeji who welcomed a team of consultants outlined the Authority’s mandate, its ongoing scheme Review processes, and the challenges faced in urban development.
He highlighted key projects the consultants will engage in, which include the Epe Mixed Development Scheme, Ito-Omu and other communities, the Labour City Scheme, and the Ode-Omi Scheme.
Tpl. Aboyeji explained that eight zones have been identified for site development in Epe Mixed Development Scheme with a focus on preparing layouts for Site & Services Schemes and private developer schemes. He stressed the need to integrate the projects into Lagos State Government Master Plan to ensure sustainable urban growth in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S + agenda of Mr. Governor – Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, particularly the Making Lagos a 21st century economy pillar.
The General Manager hinted the strong collaboration between NTDA, Lands Bureau, and the Office of the State Surveyor General to ensuring coordinated efforts in land administration and development.
Tpl. Olusola Orebiyi, Head of the Town Planning Services Department, commended the consultants for their swift response and advised them to ensure the highest level of professionalism and compliance in the course of delivering their reports.
In response, Tpl. Ajayi Rufus and Tpl. Kola Olayiwola expressed their gratitude to the Lagos State Government and the New Towns Development Authority for their commitment to structured urban development. They appreciate the engagement of consultants to oversee projects and highlight the need for strict development control and continuous monitoring. Their emphasis on proper implementation suggests a focus on sustainable and well-organized urban planning.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards structured and sustainable urban development in the Epe and Ibeju-Lekki axis.
