The World Habitat Day was created in year 1986 to create awareness about the living stand of the people all over the world to commemorate the occasion. The United Nation earmark every First Monday of October as the World Habitat Day in an annual event.
Lagos State New Towns Development Authority played an active note at the just concluded 2018 World Habitat Day held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, tagged ‘’MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT’’.
The Focus of this year’s celebration was designed to address specific issues in waste management which includes control, collection, storage, treatment, recycling, transportation and disposal.
At the event, His Excellency the Governor of Lagos State Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode ably represented by Her Excellency, The Deputy Governor, Dr.(Mrs.) Idiat Adebule, Head of Service, had in her entourage, Mrs. Folashade Adesoye, The Honorable for Physical Planning & Urban Development, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, Special Adviser on Urban Development (Mrs. Yetunde Onubule) and many other top government functionaries, declared the occasion opened.
At the Exhibition stand, the Authority showcased her Landmark achievements in the effort towards developing sustainable communities through and monitoring of development, within Government schemes. An overview of our schemes with adequate information was displayed at our stand scattered in all the five Division of the State. Few of which are GOLDEN JUBLIEE RESIDENTIAL SCHEME, SANGOTEDO, REVISED SCHEMES/APPROVAL ORDER (LEKKI PENINSULA SCHEME 1), AIYETEJU PRIVATE ESTATE DEVELOPERS’ SCHEME, IBEJU – LEKKI, IDERA PRIVATE ESTATE DEVELOPERS SCHEME, IBEJU – LEKKI to mention but are few.
The General Manager, Mr Wasiu Akewusola, the Management team and other Members of Staff of the Authority graced the occasion.
