NTDA REHABILITATES HAKEEM DICKSON AND FOLA OSIBO JUNCTIONS IN LEKKI PHASE I
New Towns Development Authority (NTDA) has commenced the rehabilitation of failed portions of Hakeem Dickson and Fola Osibo Junction in Lekki Peninsula Scheme I in order to give some reespite to the residencece in the estate and all other motorists that ply the area.
The rehabilitation became necessary because of the deplorable state of the roads and the attendant traffic it was generating in that particular area .
One of the statutory functions of this state government Agency is the provision and maintenance of functional infrastructure within all government schemes in the five divisions of the state.
The rehabilitation of the failed portions of the junction at this time will also help to mitigate the effect of flooding within the estate.
The Acting General Manager, New Towns Development Authority, Tpl. O.J Aboyeji said that the authority has awarded construction of some new roads, rehabilitation/maintenance of others as well as the provision of infrastructural projects in government Schemes to enable residents enjoy the dividends of democracy as promised by Mr. Governor, Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu in line with this administration's T.H.E.M.E.S agenda.
Aboyeji charged the contractor handling the rehabilitation of the roads projects not to compromise quality and deliver road projects that will be durable as well as motorable and will also stand the test of time.
Speaking further on the projects, Ag. General Manager, Tpl. Aboyeji , urged residents of Lekki Scheme I to always ensure they protect all government infrastructure within their vicinity by taking ownership and proper usage of projects delivered to them and also desist from stacking construction materials on the roads, which could lead to blockage of drainages, causing overflow of water from drainages to onto the roads thereby damaging them.
The rehabilitation which is being handled by Messrs Alkaisar Construction Co Limited is expected span for a period of 16weeks.
