NTDA HOSTS HEALTH TALK PROGRAMME TO AVERT CHRONICS DESEASES
As part of social welfare promised by the present administration, The Lagos State, New Towns Development Authority has taken the bull by the horn to organized a Health talk programme in order to avert some sensitive diseases in our environment for the members of Staff of the Authority held on 23rd November,2018 at the Head Office,Folawewo Street,Allen-Ikeja.
The sensitization health talk was centered around the preventive measure on the chronic diseases such as Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer, Prostrate Cancer, Hypertension and Sexual transmission disease .
Medical personnel, Dr. (Miss) Soyemi , Itunu who gave lecture on the preventive measure, analyzed the situation that is responsible for the diseases and mentioned some steps to take to avert the problems which as follows:
1. Maintain a healthy life style
2. Exercise daily
3. Breast self examination
4. Mammogram:40yrs and above
5. Breast ultrasound for below 40yrs
6. Screen test: test: Pap smear for detecting cancer cells in the cervix. done only in sexually active females.
7. Vaccines : it prevents the strains of the HPV virus.
8. Condom
9. Maintain a healthy diet
10.Do a regular prostate specific antigen test PSA
11.Eat more of vegetables
12. low salt intake
13. Avoid smoking and alcohol intake
15. Manage stress by getting adequate sleep
16. Regular BP check.
The General Manager, New Towns Development Authority, Mr. Wasiu Akewusola who declared the Health Talk Programme opened, advised the members of Staff to adhere strictly to the doctor's recommendation and to visit the hospital regularly whenever we detect any ailment in our body. He therefore, stated that the Lagos state government has introduced Health Insurance Scheme which focused on the residents of the state, that we could visit hospital often anytime there is sign of any symptom.
